Cheer on the Ohio Sports Teams
Ohio sports teams are located throughout the large state, including Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey and even Soccer. With that many teams, residents and visitors alike are able to cheer on their favorite sports club up and down the state of Ohio. While Cleveland and Cincinnati are the main cities with major league football, baseball and basketball teams, Columbus has major league hockey and soccer teams to root for.
Ohio is just one of the many states that have a baseball team in both the American and National League. In Cincinnati, the Reds have made their home at the Great American Ball Park since 2003 and the stadium is located near the best shopping, dining and sleeping accommodations in the city of Cincinnati. Cleveland is home to the Indians at Progressive Field, located in downtown Cleveland. Along with the stadium is the Quicken Loans Arena, home of the Cavaliers, to make up a large complex for sports lovers. In a 2008 fan poll for Sport’s Illustrated, the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex was voted as the Best Ballpark.
Football, one of America’s favorite Ohio sports teams, has not one, but two teams in the state of Ohio, including the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. The Bengals, part of the North Division of the American Football Conference, (or AFC) play their games at Paul Brown Stadium in downtown Cincinnati. The Browns, also part of the North Division of the American Football Conference, play their games at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the shores of Lake Erie.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio’s basketball team, makes their home in the Quicken Loans Arena near the Cleveland Indians in the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex. The state has two other professional sports teams to represent both hockey and soccer. The Columbus Blue Jackets, a professional ice hockey team, play their games in the Nationwide Arena; located in downtown Columbus, while the Columbus Crew, a professional soccer club, play their home games at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
With the variety of Ohio sports teams in one state, there's something for everyone. Each of the stadiums is also conveniently located to downtown amenities like shopping, dining or other day attractions, so visitors from out of state are able to make a weekend out of it. That's the best thing about having so many teams and stadiums in one state! Having sports stadiums near other vacation amenities makes it easier for sports fans to drive to any of these most accessible and popular stadiums and get their fill of both the game and other vacation-like fun.
